Kevin's Story

Life Schools Attended: St. Sabina ; Richard T. Crane ; Midwest City Schools (High Pointe), OKC ; Double EE (Urban Youth HS) [ now closed ] ; Austin Career Education Center ; Rosary College (now Dominican University) ; Ivy Tech State College, IN Children: 3 Career Area: Information Technology 11 years in the Hardware and Support Side of IT. Preparing to start family-owned IT business that I want my kids to take over so that it can support them and their offspring. This will be my gift to my children and their futures. MAR 2008 UPDATE: Wassup, Everyone! Whew...been a journey. I'm so blessed. Still have 3 kids. A horrible 1st marriage (married young) and I am a widower as my 2nd wife passed away. God knows if she were still alive today, we'd still be happily married and growing strong together! I love the strong black woman but women play so many games. I've grown up! Clear about the Woman of God that I want (not a mere God-fearing woman) and I take great pride in what I bring to the table of a relationship and a family. I can take great pride in me being family oriented and wanting to be a part of a family and having something to offer that special lady in my life and my children (ours combined)! It's a cold, cold world out there and I'm focused on preparing my children for their futures and their families someday. Loving my spirituality which I've reclaimed after almost 13 years of being lost. And now, God has blessed me with a Queen. All of these experiences were preparation to love someone special! I'm so blessed and we all are! END OF MAR 2008 UPDATE!!!! PERSONALITY: Quiet, shy; reserved. Although I had my crushes on the ladies, I ...Expand for more
kept that to myself as I was forced at a young age to raise my 4 younger brothers and sisters. That's what happens when your parents abandon the family. Smart, Talented, Freely Thinking, Doesn't let schooling get in the way of my education. Love to learn. I used to ditch school to go to Harold Washington library in downtown Chicago. Compassionate, emotional, sentimental, empowering. I don't like injustice. I get riled up over it, for real. Women don't get their props in the world...the women that deserve props, that is. Not the ones who talk the great game but can't read, write, comprehend or think for self. I was willing to get kicked out of high school and put an end to my educational career over a deactivated pager (garage door opener) given to my by a former girlfriend who was only interested in the "Black experience". I lost that pager eventually, but it wasn't my fault. LOL I watched the young women I went to high school with --- admired some, thought I wanted to be with others and just downright hated many. Poverty and self-hatred are not jokes at all. Watching how the guys treated their women and what the women allowed their guys to do to them (or not do), made me realize how I DIDN'T want to treat my special someone. What I saw then was the norm. That norm is still the norm today. Needless to say, when it comes to that....I'm not normal. Persevering, Undaunted. I'm still here despite numerous attempts (all throughout high school) to end it all. Yet no one knew what I was going through. I kept those personal trials, personal and didn't let it get in the way of my schooling. I do the same with life's obstacles today. Will add more later.
